3-MONTH CELEBRATION REPORT!

“God IS working in Dumaguete!”  What a wonderful day we had at International Baptist Church at Dumaguete!  God used our people to do an amazing work.  I could not be more pleased with our how our people are responding to the teaching and preaching of God’s Word.

Psalm 127:1 “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Sunday evening was a special time of preaching and then testimonies.  This was the first time we’ve had public testimonies during a service in our church and our people shared how that God is working in their lives and many expressed how thankful they are that International Baptist Church is here.  Even this morning, the day after, I’m receiving text messages from members expressing their love and their dedication to the Lord and to our church.  One of our men this morning told me how that he and his wife were up until after 11 p.m. talking about the messages here and how God is helping their family.

This update is in three pages, I hope you’ll take the time to read them and rejoice with us in what God is doing.  Thank you for praying and for supporting our ministry here.

Please Pray For Our Sunday Celebration!

3-Month Celebration of International Baptist Church at Dumaguete, Philippines

International Baptist Church at Dumaguete, Philippines

Three months ago, this coming Sunday, April 17, 2011, International Baptist Church at Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines had its Grand-Opening Service.  We are thrilled at what God has done in the short three months that our small team has been here.  We will post an update to bring everyone up to date on our progress after our services this coming Sunday, but we are asking that all of our supporters please pray about the special day we will have this Sunday.

International Baptist Church got off to a great start.  We have run no transportation for our services.  We have simply gone soul winning around our church and in and around the city as we go about our business.  God has brought visitors to our services every week.  We have seen people saved and baptized every Sunday.  God has brought people to our church who have been a perfect fit and have joined right in with the activity of our church.  This past Saturday we had 29 people out soul winning.  Our converts are beginning to have converts of their own and are getting excited about bringing others to church and seeing them baptized.

As with any church, we’ve had our services where we say, “If everyone, who comes, would come at the same time, we’d have a great crowd.”  We’re praying for that to happen this Sunday, and we’re asking all of our members to bring a visitor with this Sunday.  Again, we’re not providing any transportation, yet, and we’re relying on our people to step up and make this day happen.  I believe they will.  We’re going to have regular services and then afterward everyone is invited to stay for a feast of lechon baboy (rotisserie pork – the whole thing), rice, bread, and other treats.

It has been exciting to see God’s hand at work in our church and in the individual lives of those we’re reaching.  Too many stories to tell, and too many personal stories that should remain untold.  However, I’ve said it, and will keep on saying it, “God is working in Dumaguete!”  I’m thrilled to pastor such wonderful people.  I’m humbled and amazed that God would use me to help to impact so many lives.  I’m privileged to work with such a great group of people.  I’m thankful to God for the team He has assembled to get the job done.

We have a great vision and we’re seeing the pieces come together as we continue to build a strong base/foundation from which all we believe God is going to accomplish here and from here will take place.  I trust that you’ll continue to pray for God to empower us as we work together for the furtherance of the Gospel.  I hope that you’ll be praying as prepare for a great Sunday!

That all the world may know,

Pastor Randy DeMoville

Indo-Philippine Team Video

We continue to make progress on all fronts.  God is definetly working through our missions team.  There is a lot taking place in the Philippines.  This month our church, International Baptist Church, will celebrate its third month in Dumaguete.  We look forward to a great day on April 17.  Our folks are growing and it is exciting to see the potential.

One of the blessings of team missions is that the work does not suffer when the pastor of the church leaves for a conference, such as Pastors’ School.  While I was in Hammond, Indiana for the International Pastors’ School our team men did a great job at keeping the work going and filling the pulpit.

A new video is available for you to learn about our team and to see our ministry in Dumaguete.  Thank you for your continued prayer and support.

Heading to Pastors’ School

God continues to bless our team living and serving in Dumaguete.  Each week there are fresh evidences that God is working among us and among our people.  I’m excited about the men I work with and what they contribute to the cause of Christ.

Today I met with each man, as I do weekly, to discuss their respective areas and I am pleased with the direction we are going, and know that God has great plans for our future here.  Bro. John Felt is getting ready to launch a new ministry to teach music to elementary school children.  This will kick off during their summer session and we’ll have up to 60 children at our church one day per week for six weeks for our Musicians Prep Program.  Our hope is that many of these children will trust Jesus Christ as their Saviour, that their parents will also be saved as a result of coming to a Wednesday evening performance by the children, and that not only will we see lasting fruit from among them but that some may end up being productive church members playing in our church orchestra and singing in our church services.

Bro. Jason MacRae, our youth pastor, is full of exciting ideas for our young people.  We know that God is going to call many young people to serve Him full-time.  Already it is evident that God is working in the hearts of several young people and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them.  Our young people are getting excited about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others!

Bro. Mike Morrissey and I met at length to discuss Vacation Bible School and the impact that we believe it will have on our church.  We’re excited that it will give us an opportunity for our high-school and college-aged young people to serve as they help, but also for the way that it will help to launch our children’s ministry.

There is so much planning going on and we’re experiencing steady growth.  Each week the number of returning people is increasing at our church and there are always visitors.  We’ve not had a week yet without seeing folks saved and baptized at International Baptist Church! Our folks are becoming more and more faithful and making decisions.  I’m humbled to be able to serve such a great group of people, and to lead such an awesome team of people.

I’m going to miss all of them for the two weeks I’m gone to attend Pastors’ School in Hammond, Indiana.  I’m leaving in the morning, but the ministry is being left in very capable hands.  Please continue to pray for the Indo-Philippine Team!  God is working in Dumaguete!

Great Sunday in Dumaguete!

Singing at International Baptist Church

I continue to say it, “God is working in Dumaguete!”  What a day we had.  Today was our 8th Sunday since International Baptist Church opened its doors on January, 16, 2011.  We invited the area barangay (village/area) captains to our service so that we could publicly honor them for their service to the community, and introduce them to our church.  We invited 21, had about 12 tell us they would come, and rejoiced that 7 actually came.  With these, several spouses or staff members accompanied them.  We had a great time.  We showed the new International Baptist Church promotional video as part of the service.

One of Seven Baptized

Our morning service was our highest attendance to-date.  We had 99 in our auditorium, many public professions of faith, both from those led to Christ during the invitation as well as from Saturday soul winning.  We had seven baptized in the morning, some were older men who have visited our church and decided they wanted to join… after making sure of their salvation and baptizing them… they’re in!  They were back again for the evening service as happy as could be.

Our evening service was great as well.  We had the Lord’s Supper together and I preached a message on how that when God called Moses from the burning bush and was “sending” him to Egypt, that God’s response to Moses’ question “Who am I?” was not to convince Moses of his ability, but to tell Moses that He’d go with Him… God answered every excuse Moses could give… but it all came down to Moses needing to be willing to trust God.   God doesn’t prove Himself beforehand… the token is after the fact… being able to look back and see that God was with you all along the way.

We had many at the altar, another man joined the church by Christian experience, and one of our faithful young men decided it was time to get baptized.

I’m so thrilled to know that God is growing our people, and that already many of our faithful members, young and old, have a zeal to reach others.  Please continue to pray for the Indo-Philippine Team and for the members of International Baptist Church at Dumaguete!

We are also rejoicing with Dr. and Mrs. Schaap as they celebrate their 10-year anniversary at First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana as the pastor and pastor’s wife.  We love them and their vision which has helped us to do what we’re doing here in the Philippines.

Change in Update Frequency

Lighted Street Sign for International Baptist Church

IBC Dumaguete Sign

We will be adjusting our updates from weekly to monthly.  This is a change that is taking place across the board with our FBMI teams serving around the world.  This is a positive change to help us put more exciting information together for those who read, and to cut down on the time must be taken to both produce, and to read the updates.  We, in the Philippines, will continue to update you via our website of things that are happening so that those interested may keep up with us in between updates.

International Baptist Church at Dumaguete has just released a new promotional video that we’re beginning to circulate online and through our members and friends on Facebook to help get the word out in and around our city about the church.  I hope you’ll take a moment to watch the video and pass it along.

This coming Sunday, March 6, will be a special day.  We have invited the area Barangay Captains to visit our church so that we may publicly thank and honor them.  More than half of the captains we’ve invited have given us an affirmative answer that they will be coming; many are bringing others with them.  Please pray that the Lord will give us good weather on Sunday and that He will have His way in our service.

New Update From The Philippine Front!

Vol. 02 - Iss. 08 02-20-11

What a phenominal week we’ve had here in Dumaguete.  God is definetly working through and among us.  We had a great supper with the adults of International Baptist Church at Dumaguete where our vision was shared and readily received by many.  Great services this week with baptismal waters stirring on Sunday!

We’re encouraged by both the steady growth not only of our attendances, but of the people who have become more faithful to the services and are making changes in their lives, in such a short period of time.  Praise the Lord for his kindness to use us here!
