I love serving the Lord, and I love meeting other brothers and sisters in Christ that are likeminded in the ministry.  This month after taking my mother-in-law to the airport in Cebu to return home after a month visit here in Dumaguete, I took a trip to Silay to visit with Missionary Nathan Goodpaster and to preached for their Wednesday evening service.  The next day I drove to Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, and preached the closing message for a Family Camp at Berean Bible Baptist Church.  I had a wonderful time of fellowship with pastors and people at both places.

4-Page Update

The following morning I returned to Dumaguete to be part of the closing service for our 3rd Vacation Bible School at International Baptist Church at Dumaguete.  This month’s update is largely about the results of this year’s V.B.S. with the theme, “A Blast of Winter – Come See Dumaguete’s First Snowstorm.”  You’ll want to read the update to learn of our results and to see the photos.  Additional photos may be seen through my Facebook account.

This past week, I took my first trip to the island of Mindanao to be the guest preacher for the first Home Coming at Faithway Bible Baptist Church in Plaridel, Misamis Oriental, Mindanao.  It was an exciting time and I was privileged to be able to speak three times to the pastors and people present there.  I look forward to meeting with them again.  As much as I’ve enjoyed getting to meet and spend time with other pastors who share a common vision for churches being started and more souls being saved, it was good to be back in my own pulpit in Dumaguete with the people I love dearly.

Classes are underway again at Hyles-Anderson College of the Philippines and I am teaching on Biblical Giving this week while Bro. Mike Morrissey is teaching Countries without Christ I.  I love our students and look forward to seeing the number of students increase in June.  Please pray for us, our church, and our Bible college students as we press on for Him.  I’ll be travelling to Hammond, Indiana the end of this month to be part of the FBMI Candidate School the first week of June.  I hope to see many of you there.

In recent days four of our team families have had new additions to their homes.  We’re praising the Lord that these births have taken place and our ladies are getting back into their routines; or should we say, “new routines?”

We were privileged to have Missionary Johnny Lee Narvaez with us in March.  He was a great blessing and challenge to our people.  I met him on my first visit to the Philippines in 1999 and have been impressed with his passion for God and for the souls of men.  He is doing a great work in Qatar.

The school year has ended and we were able to recognise several of our high-school graduates.  Please pray for these young people, some of which have already made a decision to attend Hyles-Anderson College of the Philippines beginning in June.

Our college students have upped their soul winning and we’re seeing great numbers of souls saved each week through personal soul winning.  We’re also seeing many of them have an increase in visitors to church and seeing their converts baptized.  So far, in 2013, International Baptist Church at Dumaguete has seen more than 1,600 saved and we’re just shy of having 100 baptisms.  Please pray that we will be able to help these new converts to grow into faithful and productive members of the church.

One of our dear ladies who was saved at International Baptist Church and has become a faithful soul winner has been taking care of her sick mother-in-law for some time.  This past Saturday she went to be with the Lord, having been led to Christ by this faithful lady.  I was asked by the family to come on Monday and speak to the family members who would be there for a service.  We invited our church members to come and had our Bible college students there prepared to witness to family members also.  As we were preparing to start the service I was summoned into the house.  One of the sons of the lady we were having the service for did not respond when they attempted to wake him to come to the service.  We attempted to rush him to the hospital but the Lord took him also.  Praise the Lord that he also had attended our church and had heard the Gospel.  Please pray for the Amorin family; many of their family members are staunch Catholic and have not yet been willing to listen to the Gospel.  One things is for certain, they saw that the Baptists loved the family.

Our 4-Page Report

Since our last update, God has blessed one of our team families with a new baby boy.  Luke Isaac Lawrenson was born to Bro. and Mrs. Stan Lawrenson.  Please pray for baby Luke and Mrs. Lawrenson as she continues to recover.

Great things are taking place in our ministry among our people.  We’ve excited to see the continual growth in the lives of our people, especially in our young people who are surrendering to serve the Lord Jesus Christ with their lives.  June is the start of the school year in the Philippines and already we know of new students who will be starting Hyles-Anderson College of the Philippines.  Please continue to pray for our students.

Our 3-Page Update

We are excited about the future because we are excited about God!  We are IMPRESSED with God and His works and with that in mind we are pushing forward into 2013!  Our theme this year is “It Shall Be Seen in 2013.”  We are looking for God to provide as we go where He tells us to go and do what He tells us to do – having faith in Him.

3-Page Update

Once again we are reminded of God’s mercy and grace not only in the saving of our souls but in the preservation of our lives.  We have a Father Who hears us and answers us; and for that we are grateful.  This month’s update tells a little bit about the recent typhoon that came very near to us, and yet neither we nor our church members suffered greatly.

Hyles-Anderson College of the Philippines is operating and we appreciate your continued prayer and support as we teach and train these young people to serve the Lord with their lives.  They are already becoming zealous soul winners and we share some of that in this update.  Please continue to pray for us as we finish out 2012 and enter into the new year.  We are preparing for our Christmas program and then our 2nd anniversary in January.  God is working in Dumaguete!

This past month has been packed full of activity.  We held our second annual missions conference in September and took up new Faith Promise commitments.  We also prepared for the start of Hyles-Anderson College of the Philippines.  The Scott Christiansen family moved to the Philippines from India and he is acting as vice president of Hyles-Anderson College of the Philippines.

The college started on October 1, 2012, and out students are excited about being a part of something big.  Please pray for them as they get used to a new way of living day to day as we teach and train them, not only in the classroom, but as we help to teach them to manage their time and money outside of the classroom.

The DeMoville family is taking their vacation to the U.S. from October 18 through November 16.  If you would like to help us send useful items for our students, back to the Philippines, please contact Randy DeMoville at pastor@ibcdumaguete.com.  We hope to send a box back from Hammond, Indiana while we are there in November.

God never ceases to amaze us in what He can do!  We had a wonderful month in July that was highlighted by the Faithful Men 2012 Conference held at International Baptist Church.  Many pastors came from various parts of the Philippines, some with their wives or other members, to take part.

The altar was filled after each message as people responded to the preaching of God’s Word.  Much teaching was given and many resources given away to be a help and blessing to the pastors and delegates who came.  Hyles-Anderson College of the Philippines was promoted and there was much interest among pastors to come and gain more training, or to send their children or others in their church.  Please pray that God will work out the details for many to begin training this October.

I am so happy with the members of our church who worked hard to help make this conference happen.  Our folks really stepped up and did a great job and eternity will show all that they accomplished.  Please take some time to read this month’s colorful 4-page update!
