Our team was originally the India Team.
FBMI Team Missions was the combined vision of pastor Dr. Jack Schaap, Dr. Doug Kalapp, and Dr. Darrell Moore. These men pushed ahead with a God-given idea to plant teams in foreign lands following the New Testament pattern laid out in the Book of Acts. The fourth team to be planted was destined for India. The team was assembled, deputation underway, and plans made to plant a pattern ministry in India from which pastors and Christian workers would be trained to carry the Gospel throughout the world’s second most populated nation.
The initial attempts were thwarted by the learning of certain laws that prohibited us from entering as we’d hoped. We began to regroup and rethink our method to get the Gospel into India. We started to implement our plan and God decided it was time to take Dr. Doug Kalapp home to Glory. We pressed forward but without an open door we decided to seek God’s wisdom even more.
Rather than sit and wait for an opportunity to present itself, we found an open door to the Philippines where our team could work in an existing ministry, find opportunities to teach and to train pastors to plant churches, and strategically enter into India for the purpose of helping to teach and to train Pastors for the Gospel ministry. A portion of our team is living in the Philippines today, some are preparing still to go into India, others are on deputation to serve alongside us.
The India Team has become the Indo-Philippine Team; our vision has expanded and we pray that our influence throughout Asia will be felt as we take the Gospel, disciple others to take the Gospel, and help to multiply churches.
